You don’t need to put in mile after mile either, a half hour leisurely stroll each day will get the job done. Intermittent Fasting?

There is a new diet in town and it’s called Intermittent Fasting (IF for short). I first became aware of this diet after reading a blog called LeanGains.com. The basic idea of IF is that you fast for 16 hours followed by 8 hours of ‘feeding’. This combined with weight training allows your body to lose fat whilst retaining or building lean muscle mass.

Callanetics Warmup Exercises

Ok so you want to get started? Well, as with any exercise routine it is important that you spend a little time warming up your body. Not only does a quick warmup prevent any injuries but it also ensures that you get the best out of your exercises by preparing your muscles for more strenuous, demanding activity. Of course you can pretty much do any warmup exercises you want. I normally go for a quick jog or run for about 10 – 15 minutes before I do any of my callanetics routines. The important thing is to get your body moving and as the term ‘warm up’ suggests, make your muscles warmer and thus more flexible. You may want to play free bingo or read the newspaper, but leave that until after your callanetics routine. Your mind will be sharper, just as your body is fitter.

WARM-UP #1 This warmup involves stretching your spine by either hanging from a bar or if you don’t have a bar using a door at home. If your feet are touching the floor then simply bend your knees to your waist. Hold this position for as long as you can and then relax. Repeat this exercise two more times. You should feel nice and warmed-up at this point. Take a few mins break!

WARM-UP #2 This is a classic warmup exercise. From a standing position bend forward at the waist with your arms stretched out in front of you. Gently reach down to touch you toes (or the floor if you can manage it). Remain in that position for a few seconds and then begin to raise yourself back to the standing starting position. Repeat this exercise two more times. If your back begins to hurt, give yourself a little break between each one.

WARM-UP #3 The 3rd and final warmup exercise involves raising each knee in turn as though you are running. You need to do this is a slow and controlled manner. As you raise each knee, raise up on your toes on the opposite leg. Each knee should be raised for a count of one if possible. One foot should always be on the floor.

Callanetics Vs your busy Lifestyle

Finding time to exercise can be a pain in the back-side. If  like me you spend most of your time at work or out and about visiting clients you will probably be struggling to make exercising a priority. Before I started Callanetics I really did not have the time to put aside every day to keep fit. I did try but often found myself losing interest after a week or so. Mainly because I didn’t enjoy it. Going to the gym every night after work really became a drag. Often I wouldn’t arrive home until after 11pm at night. After a few weeks of doing this I thought to myself  ‘enough is enough’!

I now spend 5 – 6 mornings a week performing my Callanetics exercises (I sometimes miss a few days if I am really busy). This frees up my evenings to do more interesting things! My Healthy Morning Breakfast Takeaway

I usually like to start the morning eating something really healthy but often find myself running out of time. What I have started to do is prepare my breakfast the night before so all I have to do is grab it out of the fridge on a morning and take it to work and eat it. This breakfast recipe will not only taste good but will give you a great start to the day and lots of energy. Here is what you need to buy: –

  1. Large fat free yogurt
  2. Porridge oats
  3. Packet of dried fruit
  4. Honey
  5. Large paper coffee cups (the ones with lids)

Mix a cup full of poridge oats into a bowl with half of the large fat free yogurt. Mix in some dried fruit and then poor on some honey. Mix together until everything is nicely blended together. It should now have the consistency of thick porridge. Now put it into one of the paper cups and pop on the lid. Put in the fridge over night and it should be nice and cold in the morning. Enjoy!

Do you exercises when you are ill?

I’m just wondering if you guys perform any kind of exercise when you are feeling ill or a bit under the weather? The reason that I’m asking is that I am coming down with a bad cold (headache, sore throat etc) and tried a bit of exercise and I nearly passed out. I thought I would try it because I have heard that it can help with recovery. How wrong was I! At least I have managed to stick with my diet even though I am poorly, although I may need to treat myself later tonight though.

On another note, throughout my diet using the Fat Burning Furnace I have noticed that I am less inclined to eat bad food. I almost feel guilty when I do have the odd unhealthy snack. I know this is a good thing so I am not complaining!
